The Rift Valley Railways (RVR) is a subsidiary of Qalaa Holdings, a leading investment firm in the Middle East and Africa. Firnas Shuman was managing a portfolio of internationally financed projects for Qalaa Holdings, including the RVR railway. The project received finance from a consortium of international financiers including the IFC, FMO, DEG, Proparco, and the AfDB. Firnas Shuman acted as Qalaa Holding’s environmental and social consultant to manage the environmental and social aspects of the project and report directly to financiers.
